The County of Worcester was a small county situated between Somerset, Stafford, and Wiltshire; its capital is Worcester. It was sometimes known as Worcestershire to avoid confusion with the city after which it was named. Worcester is the only English county to have no ports.
For a long time, the Wolves of Sherwood (WoS), made their headquarters in the county, thereby earning the county the nickname of Wolfcester.
In 1459, it was absorbed into the duchy of Mercia.
