Prince of the Catalans: At the present moment, King Juan Carlos I of Spain holds that title being also the Count of Barcelona. This previous title inherited from his father Don Juan de Borbon y Battenberg. It was given to Don Juan by his father the late Alfonso XIII, who having accepted the resignation of his older heir the Prince of Asturias to continue claims to the spanish throne having married an American commoner without issue after his death.
Count of Barcelona: A title used by Spanish and medieval Aragonesse monarchs. It is the assumption that the Count of Barcelona is also the Prince of the Catalans. A title attached to the crown of Aragon since 1137.
